Tae Kwon Do is a Korean Martial Art. It was
founded by General Choi Hong Hi and earned the name on 11th April 1955.
It is particularly well known for its powerful and technical kicks, especially the aerial
kicks. However it is a full combat style in its own right and probably one of the most
popular in the world.
The Korean word "TAE" means kicking, jumping, stepping or flying of the feet. "KWON" means punching, striking, or beating of hands or fists.
"DO" means art, technique, or way. To put it simply, Tae Kwon-Do is a version of unarmed combat, designed for the purpose of self-defence.
Though it is a martial art that has no equal in either power or technique, its discipline, technique and mental training are the mortar
for building a strong sense of justice, fortitude, humility and resolve.
